Some of the more common ways to view maps and finding specific information is explained below.

SEARCHING FOR A SPECIFIC ADDRESS OR PARCEL AREA

(Searches may be conducted only for areas located in Unincorporated Pima County.)

To search for a specific address or parcel number, after selecting a map to view, click the “Find Feature within a Layer” icon Finds features within a layer. located in the toolbox on the left side.  A list of map layers will be displayed in the right column.  When this tool is opened it automatically defaults to the “County Address Search,” and an enterable box is displayed at the top.  Enter the address (7300 N Shannon Rd) you wish to search in this box.  If searching by a parcel number, use the drop down box in the “Field Name” column to select “parcel.”  Enter the parcel number (225430260) in the enterable box at the top.  Next, click the “FIND” button.  The system then begins to search for the address or parcel number you entered.

If there is an exact match, the map will automatically zoom in to that location; a small red square will mark the location of the address or parcel number entered.

If an exact match is not found, the results will be displayed in the right column with the closest match at the top of the list.  Select the address desired by checking the circle to the left of the address and then click “Select Feature.”  The map will zoom in to that location; a small red square will mark the location of the address.

Only addresses located in unincorporated Pima County are searchable on these maps.

ZOOMING IN TO A SPECIFIC AREA ON THE MAP

“ZOOM IN” Zoom In is the automatic default tool.  Use this tool to click on an area of the map you wish to view, or by drawing a square around the area desired.  By just clicking in the area of the map, it may take three to four clicks before crime symbols and street names are displayed.  Continue to zoom in until the symbols appear.

At the bottom left of each map there is a “Current Zoom” field.  This indicates the distance in miles from side to side of the area selected on the map.  Street names will appear at approximately 21 miles and crime symbols will appear between 1 and 17 miles.

ZOOMING OUT OF A MAP

“ZOOM OUT” works the exact opposite of the zoom in.  Click the Zoom Out icon to zoom out further in a map.

MOVING TO A DIFFERENT AREA OF THE MAP

Use the “RE-CENTER” Re-center icon to accomplish this.  Select the re-center icon and click the area of the map you wish to view.  The map will re-center on the area of the map selected.

VIEWING INDIVIDUAL OR MULTIPLE MONTHS OF CRIME DATA

Maps contain information for calendar years 2003 and 2004; information may be displayed for an entire year and individual or multiple months within the same year.  To select specific months for view, click on the “Map Layer Information” Displays the map layer information. icon.  A list of map layers will be displayed in the right column, including the specific months available for view individually.  Initially, all layers are checked.  In the column below the eye symbol, deselect all layers (months) you do not want to view.  Only leave the boxes checked of the data you want to view.  Click on the “Update Map” button at the bottom and the information selected will be displayed.

WarningDeselecting all layers will give a blank screen.
